The ECHO group is a DFG-financed Emmy-Noether group and focuses its research on the interactions and feedback mechanisms between the hydrological cycle and vegetation dynamics of three very different ecosystems in Brandenburg (Germany), Cerrado (Mato Grosso, Brazil) and Sevilleta (New Mexico, USA). Both process-based model development and fieldwork-based approaches are employed to enable an intrinsic assessment of the linkages between vegetation dynamics and hydrological transport processes.
