Progress
The ongoing research is aimed at developing methods to monitor seismicity and solving for source mechanism and rupture propagation of earthquakes in study area using local and regional networks in general and making use of array techniques in regional distances in particular.
Source scanning of earthquakes at regional distances, is an extension of rupture tracking techniques that are being successfully applied to major earthquakes at teleseismic distances in our department.
A survey has been made to identify and locate candidate earthquakes which can meet GT5 standards of reference events and whose mechanisms are either reliably known or being solved in the course of our study. Our method of analysis is tested and tuned against reference events and will then be applied to recorded events in the region.
