  • Syntectonic extension and the formation of dome complexes during the growth of mountain belts - Leopargil Dome, Himalaya and Muztaghata and Kongur Shan Dome, NE-Pamir
  • Geologic processes controlling the growth and destruction of high altitude plateaus such as Tibet and Altiplano - southern Tibetan margin.

  • 2013 Leading an interdisiplinary GRK1364 Graduate-Fieldschool Excursion to Indian NW-Himalaya, joined by 15 PhD-students from University of Potsdam and 2 PhD-students of the University of Delhi. We conduct a tectonic, climatic and geomorphic traverse perpendicular to strike of the orogen, starting at the humid monsoon effected toe of mountain belt to the high and arid Tethyan Himalaya with its extruding gneiss domes beyond the High Himalaya forming main orographic barriers.
