Research

During my PhD research project I studied the late Cenozoic evolution of topography in the Southern Patagonian Andes against the background of surface (glacial erosion) and neotectonic processes. I am specifically interested in the effects of the ongoing collision of the actively spreading oceanic Chile Ridge on the structural and geomorphic evolution of the overriding South American plate at these latitudes and the interaction with climatically controlled surface processes. Our research data is based on field studies and a combination of low-temperature thermochronology ((U-Th)/He and fission track) and numerical modeling (HeFTy, QTQt, PECUBE).
